The Ethics Committee assesses the protocol for a clinical evaluation according to ethical and law requirements. According to § 20, paragraph 7 MPG (Act on Medical Devices) the clinical investigation may only start in Germany following notification and when a favourable opinion has been obtained from an independent and interdisciplinary Ethics Committee registered with the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices.
